ACCOMMODATION
The Lodge – Swartberg County Manor offers 25 comfortable en-suite guest rooms. The Historical House (1864) has four enchanting rooms overlooking a fig orchard. The Main House offers 11 stylish rooms, with breathtaking panoramic mountain views from the open lounge. A further nine rooms are set in true Karoo style cottages, with a dreamy honeymoon suite to top it all.

We also encourage guests to customize their choices, if we have a full days’ notice in advance, and we’re always keen to recommend local delicacies. Each month we offer a new pairing experience to delight the taste buds, drawing on inspiration from our local area. Our chefs create a unique dining experience that will change the way you view food, as well as introducing you to locally crafted gin, wine and beer.
Mountain Biking – For cycling and walking fans, numerous trails run from the manor, from gentle, leisurely excursions, to more rugged terrain. The slopes of the mountains reveal a richness of flora and fauna, a pleasure to see in any season. For those who wish for more of a challenge, take a guided tour of the Cango Caves and walk/crawl through some of the most impressive caverns of towering stalagmite.
Swartberg Pass – Thought of by many as a national monument, the mystery and history of the pass displays an incredible array of scenery. Take a slow drive and discover epic views. As one of the steepest passes in South Africa, the terrain can be a little tricky to navigate, but don’t think that you can only venture through it with a 4×4 – imposing views can be enjoyed in any vehicle and it’s a breath-taking drive.
