Hot air Balloon Flight - Hoedspruit

image100

We have been offering one hour long flights over the scenic, Lowveld section of the Blyde River, West of Hoedspruit since 2003. The terrain is a mixture of farmland and private nature reserves at the foot of the Drakensberg Escarpment. Although it is not a "big 5" safari flight, this location has proven to be the most popular in the Hoedspruit area and in the Lowveld, for that matter.  The Escarpment forms an amphitheater at this location, providing safe shelter from the prevailing winds. Having experimented with different areas in the Lowveld, we have come to the conclusion that this area offers the very best in terms of safety, accessibility and scenic splendour. More than 10 000 passengers have now enjoyed scenic flights here.

Cascades and Canyon Delights

image101

Exhilarating helicopter flights over deep mysterious gorges, meandering rivers, lush valleys, cascading waterfalls and sheer cliffs. Spectacular views emerge as you soar over the dramatic rock formations of the legendary Blyde River Canyon towards the Three Rondawels.

Taking off from Hippo Hollow Hotel in Hazyview, we follow the Sabie River Valley along the edge of the Escarpment to the impressive 30-metre-high Pinnacle mysteriously rising above the indigenous forest. Swooping over winding rivers, deep gorges, lush valleys and cascading waterfalls tumbling in seemingly endless torrents; this breathtaking flight presents an abundance of spectacular photographic opportunities.

The flight will continue along the escarpment with incredible panoramic views of the Mpumalanga Lowveld, the Three Rondawels and the fascinating and dramatic rock formations of the 1 000-metre deep, 30-kilometre-long Blyde River Canyon (the third deepest and greenest Canyon in the World).
