Deep-Sea Fishing Excursion
When is the best time to fish the Bazaruto Archipelago? Anytime. A national park since 1971, the Bazaruto Archipelago is protected by strict conservation policies. A tag and release practice ensures sustainability and plentiful prize catches for all. These waters are renowned for Sailfish, Wahoo, Blue striped and black Marlin, Kingfish, Queenfish, Barracuda, Mackerel and Yellowfin tuna among others. Bazaruto season. This is pretty much a year-round fishery. Big game and heavy tackle fishing are at their best in the summer months between September to April. Sailfish peak season is usually in winter between May and September. Bazaruto is amongst the three best places in the world to catch Giant Black Marlin. The season runs from late August to April, with the peak for the big fish being mid-September to late December. Our two biggest weighted Black Marlin’ so far was a 1098 lbs that got tail wrapped and another that was sharked by the boat after 5 hours, which remains weighted at 1107 lbs (It went a whopping 1418 lbs on the formula). Bazaruto is still the only place in Africa to have produced Black Marlin over 1 000 pounds and the All African record caught in these waters weighed 1298 lbs.
Ocean Safari
Set out on an offshore boat trip to view some of the Indian Ocean’s most mesmerizing sea creatures. Gaze at Dolphins dancing in the waves. Look out for Humpback Whales from June to September during their annual great migration to breed and give birth. Also, the Leatherback, Loggerhead and Green Sea Turtles are often spotted from the boat or while snorkeling giving you a unique experience to be side by side with these gentle creatures. You might even catch a glimpse of the elusive Dugong, the part of the largest remaining population of dugong in East Africa, currently, the largest population on the West coast of the Indian Ocean, estimated at more than 250 individuals. The Bazaruto Archipelago boasts the largest population of these rare “sea cows” on Africa’s eastern coast. Snorkel at a two-mile reef, one of the most unique marine ecosystems in Mozambique where over 2 000 fish species inhabit the reef giving you breathtaking snorkeling opportunities.
Diving Experiences
Explore two fantastic dive sites with knowledgeable guides Only a 15-minute boat journey away, Zengelemo dive site has a maximum depth of 18 meters and features a sloping wall that is home to large clams, reef fish and dazzling coral. This dive site is only available at low tide due to currents. The Two Mile Reef is our most popular location with plentiful dive sites. The coral reefs start at a depth of 5 meters and slowly descend to a maximum of 22 meters, making it possible to see large schools of reef fish, turtles, rays and reef sharks, as well as occasional visits by Dolphins, Dugongs, Manta Rays, Whale Sharks and even Humpback Whales.
PADI Scuba Diving Courses
Whether you’ve always dreamed of learning how to scuba dive or want to improve your skills, PADI scuba certification courses are offered for all experience levels. We offer a range of courses and excursions from Discovery up to Advanced. Discover Scuba Diving This course is ideal for those who aren’t quite ready to plunge into certification. Take advantage of a quick and easy introduction to the underwater world with scuba equipment in shallow water. Your time counts towards credits in PADI Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver certification. Students must be at least 10 years old to dive into the ocean. Children aged 8 – 10 years old can participate in a pool-only bubble maker session.

Spice Spoons offers guests the opportunity to work with personal chefs, where culinary adventures start with learning how to choose fresh produce from the resort’s vegetable garden, and progress on to learning how to cook local Mozambican dishes using pre-arranged ingredients with step-by-step guidance from an expert chef. Flavour enthusiasts will also learn traditional cooking techniques, craft authentic African recipes and sample their creations during a chef hosted meal. Our signature driving trip to the northernmost point of Bazaruto Island. This is the experience of a lifetime.
